Don't be quick to judge - A must read story

Once a man was waiting at the airport for his flight. As the flight was delayed, the man thought of utilizing his time by pleasing cookies. So he went to a nearby shop and bought himself a pack of cookies. He made himself comfortable at one of the seats where the other person was sitting across and then the man picked up a magazine which the other person was reading earlier.

After some time, the other person grabbed a cookie from the container and started eating, the man was addled by anticipating what was happening. He initially ignored the gesture to avoid any scene. But the other person continued to eat those cookies without hesitating. The man suppressed his irritation and grabbed a cookie for himself and continued reading his magazine. But the other person seemed to enjoy those cookies by taking another one and eating it.

This continued for a while and the man got more and more furious. When there was the last cookie left in the container, the other person broke the cookie into two halves and offered one half to the man and smiled. The man nervously accepted the cookie and could not accept the other person’s behaviour. Till that time the other person left from there taking the container with him leaving the man puzzled.

The man was relieved when his flight was called and while he was gathering his belongings he found a full pack of cookies beneath his bag. He was surprised and then he realized that the other person was sharing his cookie and not him. As his cookies were with him, he felt bad for judging that person without knowing the whole story. While the man was getting furious and irritated, the other person was being benign and generous.

The man left with his cookies but he nowhere found the other person to apologize. In life we are too quick to make judgments about circumstances or situations, we assume without even knowing a person or thing and put labels on them. We are bounded by the stereotypes that we don’t try to see the bigger picture and sometimes end up with a slanderous conjecture about a person.

Moral - Things are not always what they appear to be. You don’t know the other person’s story, so don’t be quick to judge.
