Don’t overlook the obvious - A Life Lesson Story

Once there was a man who was known to escape from any closed room within an hour which was locked. He was known for his skills to unlock any lock in the world. So once everyone decided to take a test on him whether he can manage to free himself from the lock. On hearing this, the man accepted the challenge. And then he was called upon in a room which contained a big container which was covered by lock and chains. The man was challenged to go into the container and would be locked from outside and then within an hour he has to unlock the lock and come out from it.

Everyone waited outside when the man went into the container and the timer was started. The man tried to use his skills to unlock the lock, after a few unsuccessful attempts, he got anxious about whether he might be able to escape or not. He was worried about his reputation if he is not able to unlock this lock. The fear crippled across him and he constantly tried to unlock the lock. Three hours went by, but there was no response. Finally, he gave in and just pushed the door out of frustration, and the door was wide opened leaving him stunned at the scenario.

The man realized that the door was never locked and from the past 3 hours he was trying to unlock it unnecessarily. He registered that it was his fear of failing which lead him to believe that the door was locked and he didn’t even try to give another thought.

Moral- In life sometimes we need to look at things as they are rather than making it complicated. We are consumed with the thoughts of other’s opinions that even our skills are in vain as we are controlled by people. Don’t create success in your head and try to seek people’s praise, do your work with all your attention by unlocking yourself and people will love it.
